Cross Cultural Communication

‘Communicating effectively with Indigenous people in the Kimberley’

Kimberley Interpreting Service (KIS) offers its comprehensive workshop
‘Communicating effectively with Indigenous people in the Kimberley’
for organisations and their staff.

The workshop can be delivered anywhere there is access to power and is suitable as a refresher for old hands and as part of the induction process for new staff.

KIS’s half-day workshops are delivered by local Indigenous people, most of whom are qualified Indigenous language interpreters. The workshop focuses on effective cross-cultural communication with the addition of some Kimberley history and information on the local Indigenous world view--all essential elements for establishing an harmonious working relationship with Traditional Owners in this region.

The workshops are designed for groups up to 15. Individuals may attend scheduled workshops if there are spaces available. Provided suitable notice is given, workshops can be customised to suit an organisation’s requirements.
